PENANG: Television series such as Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) came under heavy criticism during the 27th Youth Speaks For the Nation elocution contest.

 

Many participants in the contest condemned such series, saying that the investigation techniques revealed were giving ideas to perpetrators on how to avoid detection.

Almost all the contestants said a crime-free society could not be attained because of human flaws and universal factors.

Many blamed the media for highlighting negative values that promoted violence and moral decadence.

 

S. Chulan of Penang Free School was announced the champion while first runner up was Eureka Foong Chen Yew from SMK Bukit Jambul.

Second runner up was Ryan Teh Min Jer of SMK Sri Pinang.
